Manny’s Millinery Closing

Monday, January 14th, 2008

I was truly sad to hear that at the end of this month Manny’s Millinery Supply will be closing their doors for good. This doesn’t hurt our immediate business since we don’t custom make hats but I don’t like hearing of any small business closing, especially one in the headwear industry. You can read the entire story at HatLife.com.

I don’t know where all the milliners will go to get their supplies but I certainly hope there will be somebody out there to pick up where Manny’s left off.

In addition to the traditional style Mad Bomber hat we also received a leather Cossack or Ambassador style hat. This hat is so soft and warm yet a little more dressy than a traditional Mad Bomber.

Barmah Hats of Australia

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

Barmah Hats of Australia has been one of those brands that Aaron Hats has stocked since the day we opened our doors. We are now proud to announce that you will be able to see and purchase Barmah’s entire line of hats from our web site GetaHatOn.com. While many Australian hat companies have closed down Barmah has expanded its operations. In fact, Barmah Hats now has its own dedicated leather manufacturing factory in Melbourne, Australia. This provides Barmah several advantages such as:

*consistent high quality leather
*stunning and unique full grain leathers
* consistency of colours - every hat will be the same
* waterproof leathers
* guaranteed supply of material

If you’re looking for the highest quality Kangaroo leather hat look no further than Barmah and Aaron Hats. The highest quality is the Barmah 1019 Sundowner Roo which uses the same Kangaroo leather that is used to make soccer boots in Australia. My new favorite Barmah is the 1018 Squashy Kangaroo with the Crackle finish and Cooper Crossing hatband shown below:

More Winter Hats

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Since I wrote about the arrival of Mad Bomber hats and Stormy Kromer caps last week I figured I’d include a few other winter hats in today’s hat blog.

One of my favorites for the last couple winters has been the Tilley Winter Hat. The Tilley Winter Hat looks great on both men and women, has fold down earflaps, is available in three colors, is Teflon coated to shed that nasty snow and of course, it’s guaranteed for life.

Check it out:

If you’re looking for a winter ivy cap then you should really check out the Henschel Ivy League. This cap is so soft and warm, is quilt lined, has fold down earflaps and is available in both an olive plaid and a charcoal plaid. Frequently when you have a cap with earflaps that tuck in the cap becomes bulky but not with the Henschel Ivy League cap.

These are a couple examples of the warm and comfortable winter hats available at Aaron Hats. Feel free to browse the site at your leisure and contact us if you have any questions.

Woman in a Fedora

Monday, October 29th, 2007

There’s just something about a woman in a fedora. When wearing a fedora a woman can exude confidence, style, sophistication and of course sex appeal. The fedora has typically been a mans dress hat but we’re finding more and more women reaching for the fedora. I think women are getting tired of the “one size fits most” that’s so predominant in women’s hats they’re experimenting more with men’s hats. After all, so many of today’s fashions are about individual style. It’s not just our clothes and accessories, take a look at cars. The market for aftermarket auto accessories has never been hotter. Why? It’s all about individual style.

Take a look at these women in their fedoras and tell me they don’t look fantastic.

InStyle Magazine

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Being in the fashion business I make sure we browse through several different fashion magazines so that we’re staying current with the trends. One of the best, if not the best, is InStyle Magazine. In the November issue there are so many hats I lost track. There are hats shown in fashion articles, hats used in advertisements and then there’s the cover story about Jessica Simpson where she’s shown wearing a Stetson Temple fedora. It’s hard to tell from the picture below that she’s wearing a Stetson Temple but she does wear it well.

Here are just a few of the many hats shown in the November issue of InStyle Magazine:

The Military Cap

Monday, October 15th, 2007

Military style caps have taken the hat scene by storm this year. People are calling them by different names such as the Radar Cap, Mau Cap or Army Cap to name just a few. No matter what you call it they’re hot right now and we find ourselves struggling to keep up with the demand. I think a lot of men and women are moving into this style because it’s an easy transition from a ball cap. The question then becomes what will people transition to after the military style? Will it be back to a ball cap or will they move onto an Ivy Cap or Newsboy style? I hope they continue to progress in their hat fashion but only time will tell. There’s such a wide variety of fabrics to choose from when looking at the military cap. You can choose from distressed cotton, corduroy, wool, knits, canvas and of course a camo pattern in any of these fabrics. You can find a great assortment of these military style caps in our Ivy Cap section although if the collection grows any bigger we’ll need to give it its own category.

Take a look at a few examples:

Welcome Helen Kaminski

Friday, September 7th, 2007

Aaron Hats is proud to welcome the Helen Kaminski brand to our growing hat collection. The Helen Kaminski brand is known around the world as one of the finest lines of womens headwear. With styles that include ivy caps, bucket hats, cloches, wide brimmed sun hats and even western hats Helen Kaminski has a style for every woman. Aaron Hats will have certain styles in the store but will offer the entire collection via our web site, www.GetaHatOn.com.

Here’s a brief background about Helen Kaminski:

Helen Kaminski Pty Ltd designs a diverse range of fashion and lifestyle products. Based in Sydney, Australia, the company founder Helen Kaminski, designed her first raffia hat, the ‘Classic’, in the early 1980’s to protect her children from the strong Australian sun. Helen chose raffia as it is a perfect natural fibre for use in traditional handcraft due to a natural resin that enables the fibre to remain strong and flexible over time.

As the demand for her product grew, Helen developed a workshop facility on the remote island of Madagascar where the highest quality raffia grows. In Madagascar, raffia is harvested ecologically so that the raffia palm tree is unharmed. The original workshop now employs hundreds of craftspeople trained in our unique raffia treatment and crochet methods. These highly skilled and dedicated individuals create products exclusively for Helen Kaminski.

For a limited time, we are offering free shipping on all Helen Kaminski hats.
