Hot New Newsboy

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

I have a small collection of Ivy caps and have always liked Newsboy caps. The only problem is that I can’t seem to get used to the extra material a Newsboy has as compared to an Ivy cap. So every time we get some new Newsboy caps in stock the first thing I do is try one on hoping that this is the one that will get me into a Newsboy. That day has finally arrived. A couple days ago we got the Kangol Denim Newsboy and this is the one. The Kangol Denim Galaxy is made of a nice dark denim that drapes just right and has a flannel lining. The flannel lining may not suit everybody but up here in the White Mountains it will be perfect once the cold weather sets in.

Greek Fisherman Caps

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

Aaron Hats has carried the Greek Fisherman Cap almost since the first day we opened. The Greek Fisherman’s Cap is one of those styles that has a constant demand throughout the year and over the years. We have expanded our selection of Greek Fishermans Caps to include all available fabrics and colors available.

I could try to write up a fancy description of the cap but nobody describes it better than the Greeks themselves so here is an excerpt from the importer:

“Since 1886, the Greek Fisherman’s Cap has been hand made in an ancient town outside Athens, Greece. For the past 27 years, Aegean Imports has been bringing the caps over to San Francisco and supplying customers in North America. This is all we do, so we do it very well!

While the Greek Fisherman is a well known character of the Western World, one does not need to be Greek, or a Fisherman, to wear our caps. However, a feeling of Adventure and Romance is a Must!

Although we cannot promise a good life if you wear a Greek Cap. We can guarantee the quality of the Cap for it’s life.”

Alicia Keys

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

As I am writing this I’m watching the Alicia Keys Unplugged dvd. I can’t think of another artist today who displays such warmth, sex appeal, class, beauty and sense of style as Alicia Keys. On top of all that she’s a regular hat wearer. Personally, I don’t think anything adds to a woman’s beauty than a hat or a proper cap. Sorry, that doesn’t include ball caps. I went over to her web site and found some great pictures of Alicia Keys in a hat. Here are a couple of my favorites. In the first photo she’s wearing a fedora and the other picture she’s wearing an ivy cap. Both are traditionally men’s hats but this just proves that more women should be wearing these hats.

For the ladies reading this, go out and add a hat to your wardrobe. For the men reading, be sure to compliment a woman when she’s wearing a hat. She’ll appreciate it.

Now go out and get a hat on.

A Little Worn Out

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

Just arriving this week is a cool little military style cap by Dorfman Pacific. Just like me it’s not that old but is a little worn out.

For The Sake Of Hats

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

I often get asked what my first hat was or what event as a child got me hooked on hats. Honestly, I don’t know or at least can’t remember. There was a great little hat shop in the city I grew up in and started visiting in my early teen years. I eventually bought a Stetson fur felt western hat but can’t say for sure if it was my first hat. In my early 20’s I had a Greek Fisherman’s cap and bought a Kangol Carrimac cap when I was in France and even though they’re both still made today I don’t currently own them.

Here’s a sampling of some of my current hats (the ones in rotation for regular wear):

-Stetson Diamond Jim – my favorite western hat

- Dobbs Naples – always get great comments at summer weddings

- Tilley T5 – great for hiking or yard work

- Kangol 504 Ventair – my favorite summer cap (got it in 4 colors)

- Dobbs Nugget – shown here but since discontinued by Dobbs

So what got you into hats?

Aaron…yes I have a hat on.
